Teacher of Science

Rodborough School is seeking a qualified, ambitious, and passionate Teacher of Science to join our Science Department.

Candidates will be excellent practitioners and will have a passion and enthusiasm for the teaching of Science that is evident from their teaching practice to date. They will have a clear understanding of what makes a successful science lesson and will understand the importance of effective collaboration with their colleagues within the department and across the wider school/Trust. The successful candidate will have a passion to teach science, but will also recognise that working as a tutor and supporting the extra-curricular provision is essential when it comes to ensuring our students have the best possible experience during their time with us.

It is an exciting time to join the Science department at Rodborough.  Science lessons are taught in the Main Block and our existing laboratories are undergoing a period of refurbishment with our first new Science lab completed over the Summer.  The Science team work closely with science colleagues across the Trust, under the coordination of the Trust Director of Science, who provides science teachers across the Trust access to invaluable subject specific professional development.  Rodborough has a large cohort of Separate Science students, with over half of the cohort following this route.

You will be joining a forward thinking and ambitious department, which under its current new leadership, wishes to develop both the intent and implementation of the science curriculum in order to equip students with the very best education in science.

Rodborough is a consistently popular school with a highly supportive community. This positive relationship enables high standards to be maintained both academically and through the vast range of enrichment which ensures our students have the best possible experience during their time with us. Students are respectful and are proud to uphold the strong values of the school. Colleagues and the leadership team are highly supportive. By joining us, you will benefit from our extensive, whole school, research informed CPD programme that strives to develop all teaching colleagues both pedagogically and professionally.

Rodborough is proud to be a member of the Weydon Multi-Academy Trust (WMAT) and works closely in partnership with other schools in the Trust and its teacher training provider, the i2i SCITT.  We are also recognised nationally for our work in partnership with the national Autistic Society supporting autistic students within a mainstream school environment.

Rodborough is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  We are an Equal Opportunities employer.

This appointment is subject to safer recruitment procedures and an enhanced DBS check.

The deadline for applications is 9am on Friday 10 January 2025

We reserve the right to interview sooner, when appropriate and encourage early applications.
